Key Border Management Agencies honor IMSL Executive Director

In recognition of the valuable contributions to strengthening migration governance and border management in Sri Lanka, the Executive Director of the Institute of Migration Sri Lanka (IMSL), Shantha Kulasekara, the former Head of Migration Governance, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Sri Lanka & Maldives, was honoured with appreciation awards by the:

  • Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd (AASL)
  • Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation
  • Sri Lanka Customs
  • Department of Immigration and Emigration

The awards were presented at three separate felicitation events held at the respective headquarters of these institutions, attended by the Heads of Agencies and senior management. Notably, these events marked the first occasion on which an external professional was formally recognized in this manner, reflecting the significance and impact of the contributions made.

These recognitions underscore the environment for strong collaborative engagement between IMSL and key national institutions in advancing modern, efficient, and secure migration and border management systems. IMSL remains committed to supporting such strategic initiatives through its expertise in policy development, institutional strengthening, and international best practices, contributing to national security, facilitation of mobility, and economic development.
