Buddhism Short Study Programs (3 days – 4 weeks)
Learn Buddhism in Sri Lanka.
Immerse yourself in the teachings of Buddhism at the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy (SIBA)
Campus in Sri Lanka, a country deeply rooted in Theravāda Buddhist tradition. This unique program,
designed exclusively for IMSL, offers an enriching blend of academic learning, cultural experience, and
spiritual exploration. Whether you are a student, researcher, or simply someone seeking a deeper
understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice, this program provides a flexible and meaningful
pathway to engage with learning Buddhism.
Designed with flexibility in mind, students can fully customize their learning journey based on their
availability and interests. For example, a 5-day program allows participants to select from a range of
elective modules and build a personalized study plan. Topics may include Buddhist philosophy, meditation
practices, Pali language basics, Buddhist art and architecture, mindfulness and mental well-being, and
the role of Buddhism in Sri Lankan society. Programs can also include guided visits to temples and
heritage sites, meditation sessions with experienced monks, and interactive discussions that connect
theory with real-world application. Programs are conducted in English and are available in other
languages too.
Longer stays can be arranged for those seeking a more in-depth experience, including research
opportunities, extended meditation retreats, or combined academic and volunteer components. The program
is ideal for international students, gap-year travellers, and professionals looking to explore Buddhism
in an authentic and immersive environment.
